TRO-GIN BRANGUS RANCH (TG)

TRO-GIN Brangus Ranch is located approximately 35 miles south of Fort Smith, Arkansas in the small community of Echo. It is 6.5 miles south of Mansfield on Hwy 71, then 3.5 miles north on Echo Road. Yes, the community is aptly named. There is a certain place on Echo Road that when you call out, an “echo” will quickly come back to you. Surrounded by scenic ridges and the beautiful Blackjack Mountain, Echo is an idyllic location for our Brangus Ranch.

We are retired educators having both been in the field for a combined 68 years. We are also cattle ranchers, and this is our 51st year raising registered Brangus. We purchased our first registered Brangus from Scenic View Ranch, Claremore, OK. in 1967. In the mid seventies, we purchased a number of excellent “Mack” bloodline bulls from Ray Mackey, Muskogee, OK. In the 80’s, we added Dr. Henry Gardner’s Willow Springs Ranch genetics to our herd by purchasing females from Blackland Farm near Dallas. We also used outstanding Brangus AI sires such as Stardom, Paragon, Exacto & Update. An Impact sire was also added to our herd bull battery. In the late 90’s our goal continued to focus on producing bulls & females with clean underlines. With this in mind, we purchased highly scrutinized herd prospect sires from sons of Milkyway, Cowboy, and Bright Promise from Brinks of Camp Cooley Ranch. These bulls definitely produced the results we wanted – continued clean underlines reducing the risk of prepuce injuries and enhancing the economic and longevity value of both males and females raised on our ranch. In 2008, we purchased two MTG bulls from Herb Murray of Simms, TX. These were Mr. Cool and Mr. Coolhand bloodlines. At that time, we also purchased heifers to add new bloodlines to our female battery. In November, 2013, we purchased Mr. BR Lucky from Tommy Rogers Branch Ranch production sale. This last purchase continued to solidify our goal – producing cattle with clean underlines enhancing the economic and longevity value to not only benefit ourselves but also our customers. The results: our bulls are clean, muscular, uniform with low birth weights and we have maintained all the benefits of the 5/8 x 3/8 Brangus breed qualities.

We have worked hard and thoughtfully over the past years to bring to us and you functional, quality cattle. Along the way, we were honored to be chosen Logan County 1992 Farm Family and enjoyed a wonderful congratulatory dinner and friendship with other county honorees at the Governor’s Mansion.

We invite you to visit our ranch. Let’s talk about cattle and ideas for making improvements. And, we’d love to show you our cattle!
